Immediate Release
Birmingham Empowerment Forum as a part of our Political and Community Engagement programme is hosting a By Election hustings for the forthcoming Police & crime Commissioner Elections.
All four candidates have confirmed their attendance at The Drum Potters Lane Aston Birmingham B6 4UU this Friday 15th August 6.00pm - 9.00pm.
This is an opportunity for the public to meet the candidates and ask those all important questions that affect their daily lives in order to make informed decisions on election day.
"Hustings are an important part of the election process in order to ensure that every attempt in made to increase engagement and turnout, which is of course a matter of grave concern for this by-election taking into account that the turnout at the previous PCC elections here in the West Midlands was a mere 12.5%. Many Political Commentators expect it to be even lower this time, for such an important position."
Some of the issues we have been told that are affecting inner city communities of Birmingham:
Deaths in Custody
Stop n Search
Trust and Confidence
Knife Crime
Gun Crime
Domestic Violence
Neighbourhood Policing
These are a few just for starters.
A flyer for the event is below for your attention.
The Debate will be hosted by: Desmond Jaddoo, Raj Rattu and Charmaine Burton
This is a free and open event and everyone is welcome.
